Flood Warnings and Flash Flood Watches For Area Counties

A flash flood watch continues for all of the KCHI listening area until Thursday morning.  The National Weather Service predicts additional heavy rainfall is possible throughout the area.

Rainfall amounts in excess of 1.5 inches have already been recorded in Chillicothe.  Higher rainfall totals are reported around the area and with the additional rain, low areas and creeks that are prone to flooding could rise quickly.  If you come across flooded roads, turn around and find a different route as you can not see the condition of the road beneath the surface of the water.

Flood warnings are issued for numerous rivers and creeks across the area, including:

The Grand River at Sumner.  The river should rise above flood stage of 26 feet this morning, with a crest of 30.9 feet late tonight and falling back below flood stage on Friday morning.

The Grand River at Brunswick is expected to rise above flood stage of 19 feet this morning, cresting Thursday morning at 22.5 feet and flooding will continue to Friday evening.

Waukendau Creek in Carrollton rose above flood stage of 16 feet Tuesday and is near the expected crest of 17.75 feet.  Flooding is expected to continue through this afternoon.
