The Bridge on Ryan Lane could be closed for a couple of years before a replacement is built. The Chillicothe City Council discussed the bridge on Monday. City Administrator Darin Chappell says damage to the bridge from the accident on May 3rd was significant.
Chappell says ownership of the bridge is unknown, but to replace the bridge, may require the city’s participation financially. He says according to MoDOT if the definitive ownership of the bridge cannot be determined, it becomes a cost-share project.
A new bridge would be wider and would have longer approaches. Chappell says there will be continued discussions about the bridge.
