Street Projects Awarded To Local Contractor

The Chillicothe City Street Projects scheduled this year on Walnut and Cowgill Streets will be done by a local contractor, who was NOT the low bidder.  The contract for $1,249,263 is awarded to Irvinbilt Construction.  The bid was about $16,000 higher than the lowest bid, from BRS Construction of Edina, MO.  The Council wanted to use a local contractor.

City Attorney Robert Cowherd told the council that the low bidder may choose to protest, and that could delay the project.

The Council voted 3/0 to award the contract to Irvinbilt.  The first ward councilman was absent and Second Ward Councilman, Wayne Cunningham who works for Irvinbilt, excused himself from the discussions and the vote due to a conflict of interest.
