Livestock Concerns After Flooding

As floodwaters recede, the University of Missouri Extension reminds livestock producers that are several things to keep in mind.  Jenna Monnig says there are potential hazards the flooding may bring about.

Monnig says standing water can also be a problem.

She says farmers should make sure they clear any debris from the pasture areas before releasing animals into the area.

The Extension Service also recommends making sure your animals are upto date on vaccinations and possibly adding boosters.  If you have questions about livestock and flooding, contact your local Extension office.  In Chillicothe, call 646-0811.
