Mudcats Win Two Over The Weekend

The Chillicothe Mudcats won two over the weekend. Sunday they beat the Nevada Griffons 11-8 in Nevada. The Mudcats rode two big home runs. Christian Cordona got the start for the Cats and went four and two-thirds innings before he ran into trouble and gave up four runs.
The Mudcats answered in the fifth with Brady Welch and Marcus Gonzalez combining for two hits and three RBI in the inning. Chillicothe was trailing 7-6 when Chet Merritt blasted his second Home Run of the season. The two run shot gave the Cats an 8-7 lead.
Not to be outdone in the ninth, Nolan Metcalf had his first home run of the season, a three run shot that would ice the game.
Brock Pettit, Chandler Griggs, and Jack McNellis would come on in relief for the Cats to shut the door. The Mudcats are now 5-2 and are off today.
The Chillicothe Mudcats beat the Jefferson City Renegades 9-8 Saturday night in a 13 innings home win.
The Mudcats were able to walk it off in the bottom of the 13th. The Renegades broke the tie in the top of the 13th with three runs to make it 8-5. After an RBI single by Chet Merritt and pitcher Tyler Vendetti pinch hit with the bases loaded and hit a walk off sac fly to win it 9-8. Dylan Goven struck out seven in four and one-third innings for the cats.
