(Story by Patrick Wheeler)
The Chillicothe Mudcats lost to the Sedalia Bombers 12-6 on Monday.
Chillicothe was able to plate a couple in the 1st inning to take a 2-0 lead early, highlighted by Blaine Ray grounding into a fielder’s choice to score Dom Trevino after he singled. The Mudcat bats wouldn’t score a run again until the 8th inning. Kole Ficken would manage an RBI single that made it 11-4 Sedalia at the time. On to the 9th, Brady Welch and Kole Ficken would both tack on RBI singles to make it 12-6. That would add some late drama to the game but the Cats would ultimately strand the bases loaded to end it. Christian Cordona could only manage 1 and 2/3 while giving up 4 runs 1 hit and 4 walks and 4 K’s. The Bombers would live up to their name and blast 3 HR’s including a grand slam to beat the Cats.
The Mudcats are now 9-5 and play the Jefferson City Renegades in Chillicothe tonight. Patrick Wheeler will have the first pitch for you at 7:05 pm on KCHI and streamed live on KCHI.com.
