Nutrition Key to Sports Success

Fall sports practices for area high school athletes will begin in a few weeks. Sarah Wood is a nutrition and health specialist with the University of Missouri Extension service.
She says that athletes know about the required physicals, but nutrition is just as important for optimum performance.

Wood says it is important what type of food you eat and when you eat it.

Athletes and parents with questions about proper nutrition should talk first with the head coach of their child’s sport.
