Hornets Blast Kirksville, Now 2-0 on Season

Chillicothe’s Dawson Wheeler scored three touchdowns to help his Chillicothe Hornets to a 50-21 home win over Kirksville.
The Tigers scored on their opening drive on a 34 yard pass. After that it was all Chillicothe with a touchdown run from Isaac Rasche and a touchdown pass from Jaden Winder to Ben Hayen, both in the first quarter.
In the second quarter Winder ran it in himself for the score. Then Wheeler picked off a poorly thrown pass and went 70 yards down the sideline for the pick-six.
Wheeler scored again late in the first half on a one yard run for a 34-6 halftime lead.
Kirksville came out re-energized in the start of the second half, scoring on a four yard pass play and a 53 yard punt return to move to within two touchdowns, 34-21.
Chillicothe scored on a 29 yard Jamacin Carr field goal in the third, a Kam Ward run in the fourth and a Wheeler 23 yard run also in the fourth.
Chillicothe moves to 2-0 and hosts Maryville Friday for the MEC Opener
