The Chillicothe Lady Hornets Tennis doubles team of Hunter Keithley and Hannah Zimmerman have qualified for the state Doubles Tennis Tournament.
Keithley and Zimmerman beat a Warrensburg duo 6-3, 6-3 in individual sectional tennis to qualify for the state doubles tournament that starts October 25th in Springfield.
With the win, the Chillicothe team is 25-3 on the season in doubles competition.
Coach Bob Long said the Hornet Senior doubles team controlled the next, forcing Warrensburg to try and win from the baseline. This is Keithley’s third trip to state and first with Zimmerman.
Another Warrensburg doubles team beat Trenton’s Lexi Gott and Kendall Crowley.
In singles play, Macy Cavanah battled hard but lost to a Marshall player
4-6, 0-6
Delaney May lost to a Warrensburg player 0-6, 0-6.
Team sectionals vs Marshall at Pembroke Hill will be Oct 18th at 9:00am.
