Fire Damages House On Crescent Drive Thursday

Chillicothe Firefighters responded to a report of smoke at a house in the 200 block of Crescent Drive Thursday afternoon.  The call came in about 4:35 and the fire crew arrived in two minutes to find lots of smoke and no-one home.  The fire crew entered through the basement and found fire there and put that out.  They continued to check the area using thermal imaging cameras and found additional hot areas and hidden fire.  They used 500 gallons of water and foam to put out the fire.  The report states two pet cats died in the fire and there was extensive smoke damage.  The cause of the fire was found to be electrical, starting with a dehumidifier in the basement.

The fire crew was on the scene for about an hour and ten minutes.
