Nelson Faces Charges Of Alleged Murder

Garland Joey Nelson is charged with two counts of alleged murder.  The 25-year-old Braymer man, who is already in custody of previous charges, was arraigned in Caldwell County court Wednesday morning.  The charges are in connection with the disappearance of two Wisconsin brothers Nick and Justin Diemel, who were on a trip related to their cattle business when they disappeared after visiting Nelson.

Caldwell County Sheriff Jerry Galloway read off the list of charges.

Sheriff Galloway says the case was investigated by numerous agencies, including the North Missouri Major Case Squad, Missouri Highway Patrol, his department and assistance from numerous local police and sheriff’s offices including Chillicothe and Livingston County.

If Nelson is convicted on the murder charges, he faces life in prison or the death penalty.  The remaining charges have total sentences ranging from 14 years to life in prison.

The Sheriff took no questions following the news conference.
