Hornets Football to Hall of Fame Sunday

The Chillicothe High School Football Program will receive a high honor on Sunday when it is inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in ceremonies in Springfield.
The Hornets is one of several programs and individuals from professional to college to high school sports that will be a part of this year’s Hall of Fame class.
A reception in Springfield will be at 4:00pm with dinner and awards ceremony at 5:00pm in the University Plaza Convention Center in Springfield.
The Chillicothe football program began in 1904 with a 2-1 record. Since then the program is one of only a handful in the state that has more than 650 all-time wins.
The Hornets have been to seven state championship games and won five of the games.
The last time Chillicothe went the season with out winning a game was 1949 when they lost six games and tied three. The last time they lost every game in the season was in 1918 when they lost the only 3 games they played, due to a country wide deadly influenza epidemic that closed schools for weeks.
