Sales Tax Increase To Benefit Police Department Goes To The Ballot

The ¼ of 1% sales tax increase will go before Chillicothe voters.  The City Council on Monday approved the ordinance to place the question on the ballot.  The ballot language will read as follows:

Shall the City of Chillicothe, Missouri, be authorized to increase its general sales tax by one-quarter of one percent (¼ of 1%), to be used to acquire and or improve police facilities, acquire police equipment, maintain police services and recruit, train and retain police officers.

City Administrator Darrin Chappell says the paperwork will be delivered to the courthouse by the deadline, which is today.

Chillicothe residents will have an opportunity to vote on the change in the sales tax on the April 7th Ballot.
