The Chillicothe Lady Hornets had few problems picking up a win over Higginsville in a first round game in the Cameron Tournament.
The Lady Hornets jumped on top early and never let up in a 60-19 win over the Lady Huskers.
Chillicothe coach Darren Smith said when you build a big lead, it’s tricky deciding which players get time on the floor.
Chillicothe out-scored Higginsville 25-2 in the second quarter, and led by as many as 45 points in the fourth quarter.
Chillicothe’s Hunter Keithley finished with 16 points including hitting 12 of 14 free throw attempts. Selby Miller had nine points, Jordan Hibner and Brooke Horton each had eight points. Jessica Reeter finished with seven, Josie Reeter with five, Lucy Reeter with three, Essie Hicks and Haley Kidd each with two points and playing time for Sophia Luetticke and Montana Plattner.
Chillicothe faces Smithville Thursday in the tournament. It will be the third meeting of the season between the teams.
