Hornets Now 4-0 in MEC Basketball

St Joseph Benton missed a potential game tying trey from top of the key at the buzzer, giving the Chillicothe Hornets basketball team a 57-54 conference win at home.
The Hornets took the lead for good in front of a loud crowd with 2:27 left, off two Westley Brandsgaard free throws.
With 4 seconds left in the game, Benton had to in-bound the ball on the sideline between their bench and the scorers table.
Chillicothe Coach Tim Cool said forcing Benton to throw the ball in back court was a key to the rushed shot attempt at top of the key.

Brandsgaard led Chillicothe with 22 points, C J Pfaff had 19, Mason Baxter with 9, Bradley Riley with 4, Griff Bonderer with 2, Wyatt Brandsgaard with 1 and playing time for Hayden Simmer and Cayden Potter.
Chillicothe hit 12 of 13 free throws including several in the final two and a half minutes of the game.
With the 57-54 win, Chillicothe improves to 4-0 in conference play, 16-3 overall and has won 11 in a row for the first time since the 1990s.
