The Chillicothe Lady Hornets Basketball season came to an end with a 50 to 40 loss to Macon in the sectional round of the Class 3 State Basketball Tournament.
Chillicothe led briefly in the first quarter and stayed with in striking distance most of the game.
Hornets Coach Darren Smith said his team just couldn’t get some necessary stops to put together a short run last night to regain the lead.
Chillicothe was with in a single basket during the middle of the 4th quarter, but could not retake the lead. Macon made 16 free throws in the game, twice as many as Chillicothe.
The Lady Hornets were led by nine points from Jessica Reeter, Hunter Keithley and Jordan Hibner. Seven from Essie Hicks, four from Brooke Horton and two from Lucy Reeter.
Chillicothe girls end at 20-8 while Macon improves to 23-4 and will face Maryville on Saturday at 1:00pm at Blue Springs High School.
