Sales Tax Increase To Support Chillicothe Police On June 2nd Ballot

A sales tax increase is on the June 2nd Ballot for voters in the City of Chillicothe.  City Administrator Darin Chappell says the increase of one-quarter of one percent is to support the Chillicothe Police Department.

Chappell explains the tax would bring about $420-430 thousand dollars in an average year.

He says this is not just paid by Chillicothe residents.

Chappel says there are some specific plans for the funds.

Chappell says if the tax is passed, the total sales tax received by the City of Chillicothe would be 7.975%.  It would still be lower than any of the full-service city in the northwest region of the state.
