The Free and Reduced Lunch program offered at area public schools is often unused by families that may qualify. The reason could be they are not aware of the income guidelines or they may feel there is a stigma to being part of the program. Chillicothe R-II Assistant Superintendent Dr. Zach McMains says the qualification depends on the size of the family.
Dr. McMains says some parents also worry that the child may somehow be identified as being on the program.
