Feature: Domestic Violence in Chillicothe

It’s a continuing problem that’s frequently found in police reports: Domestic Violence. It can be found between people that now or formerly in a relationship together, people who have children in common or are related by blood or marriage.
Chillicothe Police Officer Brian Schmidt says abuse is not just “physical”,

Schmidt says the problem can not be pigeonholed to one type of lifestyle. He says it can occur everywhere across the complete spectrum of poor to rich.
He says it is a unique crime when it comes to the court system.

He says victims can reach out to the Livingston County Mental Health or to Women’s Shelters in Trenton and Cameron. The shelter in Chillicothe closed recently but has hopes of re-opening in the future.
