The Chillicothe Lady Hornets softball bats were hot in the late innings in a 9 to 3 Chillicothe softball home win over Princeton Saturday afternoon.
Princeton scored twice in the top of the third inning but Chillicothe tied it up in the bottom of the fourth. They went on to score three in the fifth and after Princeton scored one in the sixth, the Lady Hornets had four runs in the bottom of the sixth for the win.
At the plate, Chillicothe was led by Hope Helton with three singles, Mika Hibner with a home run, Kinlei Boley with a double and singles for Sophia Luetticke and Bre Pithan.
Princeton’s bats were active, but their 12 hits, including two doubles, only accounted for three runs.
Chillicothe used three pitchers in the game with Halle Rucker going the first four innings, Mollie Ellis pitching the fifth inning and Kinlei Boley pitching the final two.
Coach Lee Rucker said all three of his pitchers were effective and the Lady Hornets defense was solid. He called it a good team win.
