The Chillicothe Lady Hornets softball team scored in five out of their six innings to beat Cameron 8 to 6 at Danner Park.
Chillicothe scored one in the first, two each in the third and fourth inning. Cameron scored four in the top of the fifth inning but Chillicothe answered with two in the fifth and one run in the sixth inning.
Chillicothe had eight runs off of 13 hits and just one error. Cameron had six runs off seven hits and made three errors.
At the plate for Chillicothe, Sophia Luetticke had three singles, Kirsten Dunn, Kinlei Boley, Mika Hibner and Mollie Ellis each had two singles and Brooke Horton and Hallie Rucker both had one single.
Kinlei Boley had the start with Hallie Rucker in relief. The two allowed six runs, only four earned, off seven hits with ten strike outs and just two walks.
Coach Lee Rucker said it was good to get the first conference win, and was proud that his team had 13 hits from 7 different batters. He also said his players had solid overall defense.
