Harvest Safety – Machinery On The Road

As we move into the fall harvest season, we need to think about the large machinery that will be on the road.  From combines to trucks and tractors with other implements, motorists need to be prepared to share the road.  Jim Humphrey from the University of Missouri Extension says we can expect to see this equipment on the road at any time of the day and night.

Be cautious around the machinery on the roads and be away the driver may be making turns into fields.  If passing, do it quickly but safely and when possible, make sure the operator of the machinery has seen you.

Farmers, when on the road, make sure you look for traffic in front, behind and that may be passing, before making your turns.
