A group of at least a dozen inmates at the prison in Cameron have spent the past two years piecing together a hot rod. The souped-up rod will make its first public appearance this Sunday in nearby Pattonsburg at a car show. Chris Farmer with the Missouri Department of Corrections says the project has fueled excitement among the prison and the entire system.
Funding for the project did not come from taxpayers. It came from prisoner canteen sales. That is where they can buy things like soda, candy and soap. The car show is Sunday from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
