Hornets beat Benton in Overtime

It was a wild First Round Playoff Football Game in Chillicothe.

That was the winning touchdown in overtime to give the Chillicothe Hornets a 34-28 district win over St Joseph Benton.
The Cardinals opened the scoring in the first half on a 43 yard Garrison Dydell run in the 1st and a Dydell 19 yard run in the second for a 14-0 lead.
Chillicothe responded with a Damarcus Kelow 17 yard run late in the second quarter, and a Kelow 2-yard run in the early 3rd quarter for a 14-all tie.
Benton scored twice in the early fourth quarter on a Dydell run and a blocked punt that was returned for the score and a 28-14 lead with 6:37 left in the game.
Chillicothe responded with a Gage Leamer run and a Griff Bonderer two-point conversion to trail by six.
With seven seconds left in the game Leamer punched it in from one yard away but the two-point conversion fell for a tie score
Benton was up first in overtime but failed to score. Chillicothe scored on their third play on a Bonderer 12-yard run for the final 34-28 win.
Chillicothe will travel to Richmond next Friday for a district semi-final game. Richmond is the top seed and had a first-round bye last night.
