The Chillicothe Hornets wrestling team had some good performances in the difficult Moberly Spartan Duals on Saturday.
Chillicothe went 1-4 in the meet with a 60-15 win over St James, and losing to Pleasant Hill 64-12, Bolivar 65-12, Jefferson City Helias 54-27 and Moberly 47-23.
Coach Chad Smith stated they faced some of the best wrestling teams in the state. He said “It was good for our young team to see how tough the top level teams are and what it takes to be up on their level.”
He stated this group of Hornet wrestlers has the potential to be up to that level in the next couple of years.  Smith also said his team were very competitive in a lot of matches.
The highlight was Hornets returning all-state wrestler Sheldon Rader’s performance in a loaded 113 pound division. Rader went 3-2 and is one win away from joining the 100 win club.
Individually for Chillicothe:
Lane McCoy went 3-2 with three byes.
Sheldon Rader went 3-2 with a bye, a pin and a technical fall.
Logan Clark went 2-2 with a win by pin and a bye.
Aidan Zimmerman went 2-3 with a pin.
Bryce Dominique went 1-4 with a pin.
Cayden Larson went 1-4 with a pin.
Gauge Chenet went 0-5.
Brody Carins went 3-2 with a pin and a bye.
Dawson Sutton went 0-5.
Tristan Slattery went 3-2 with two pins.
Vance Sherler went 1-4 with a pin.
Wade Horton went 3-2 with three byes.
and Dilyn Ulmer went 2-3 with a pin and a bye.
