2020 Kiwanis Shop With A Cop Helped 53 Children

The Chillicothe Kiwanis Club and area law enforcement assisted Children with the purchase of gifts in the holidays.  Saturday was pick-up day for the event that helped 53 children this year.

Traditionally, the children are teamed up with an officer, Kiwanis Member or volunteer and they would shop for presents for their family and themselves.  Due to COVID-19, this year things were a bit different.  The children submitted their list and the staff at the store at 1000 Graves Street did the shopping.  Saturday morning, with the assistance of the Chillicothe Police Department, Missouri Highway Patrol and School Staff, the Kiwanis members had the families drive-through and pick-up the gifts.

Funding for this year’s Shop With a Cop came from the retailer, Area Law Enforcement, Chillicothe Rotary, Steel Worker Union Local 990, and Wire Rope.

In addition, the Chillicothe Kiwanis and the CHS KEY Club worked at the entrance of the retailer, ringing the bell for the Salvation Army Red Kettles.
