Vehicle Towed From School Loading Zone

A vehicle parked in front of Dewey School was towed Tuesday morning.  Chillicothe Police after they were unable to locate the owner of the vehicle.

School Resource Officer Eric Menconi says the vehicle was parked in the school bus drop off/ pick-up line causing a hazard by blocking the buses from safely unloading students at their designated stop. This also resulted in heavy traffic congestion at the intersection which caused further safety issues for parents dropping off their children, and those attempting to cross at the intersection.

Menconi says because they could not locate the owner, the vehicle was towed at the owner’s expense.

Lastly, Menconi reminds those driving in the areas around the schools to hang up your cell phones, slow down, follow all traffic safety signs/ devices and always wear your safety belt. And most importantly, when picking up students make sure your child is in the vehicle with the door shut and safety belts on BEFORE driving away.
