2021 Livingston County Budget Approved On 2/1 Vote

The final budget for Livingston county was approved on a 2-1 vote Friday morning, with Eastern District Commissioner Alvin Thompson voting NO.

The budget includes a carryover from 2020 of $3.5 million, Revenues estimated at $8.7 million, and expenditures of $9.8 million.  This is expected to leave the county with an estimated ending balance of $2.4 million at the end of the year.

The budget does include a 3% cost of living adjustment for all employees.  The county also applied a $1.00 per hour increase for the hourly positions.

Following the vote on the budget, Thompson explained his reason for voting no has to do with bridge maintenance issues.

Presiding Commissioner Ed Douglas says he and Western District Commissioner David Mapel disagree with Thompson on his comments.  Douglas says as repairs are needed, they hire qualified contractors to handle the work for less than hiring additional full-time employees.

The approved budget will be filed with the State of Missouri.
