Benton Girls Beat CHS in Final Seconds

The Benton Lady Cardinals basketball team needed a late basket to beat Chillicothe in a conference game.
Benton led much of the game until two Essie Hicks’ free throws with 1:38 left tied the game. A Benton turnover led to a Jolie Bonderer free throw to take the lead with 38 seconds left.
Benton got the ball to the low post and scored with just over two seconds left. After a time out, a Chillicothe in bounds pass was stolen by Benton to seal a 45-44 win.
Lady Hornets Coach Darren Smith said it was a tough, hard fought game.

Brooke Horton led Chillicothe with 13 points, Essie Hicks with 10, Jessica Reeter with 8, Jolie Bonderer and Lucy Reeter each with 5, Selby Miller with 3 and playing time for Ellie Barnett.

Chillicothe won the two under card basketball games last night.
The Lady Hornet’s C-team jumped out to a 13-0 lead after the first quarter and won 49 to 13. Kaylynn Cranmer and Kirsten Dunn both had 12 points, Hope Helton with 10, Delanie Kieffer and Madison Albaugh had five points each, Kayanna Cranmer with three and Emily Schreiner with two points,
The Chillicothe Junior Varsity beat Benton 50 to 46. The JV Lady Hornets were led by Kinlei Boley with 18, Kayanna Cranmer with nine, Cali Burkhardt with eight, Bre Pithan with seven and Izzie Montgomery with five.
