Severe Weather Preparedness – Flooding

This is Severe Weather Preparedness Week and The National Weather Service has had information about Severe Weather each day this week.  Today’s Focus is on flooding.  Storm Coordination Meteorologist Andy Bailey says flooding is one of the deadliest weather hazards.

There are two forms of flooding, Flash Flooding and River flooding.  Bailey started with River Flooding.

The other is Flash Flooding.  Unlike river flooding, Flash Flooding, as the name implies, happens quickly.

Bailey says an important thing to remember is to NOT drive into floodwaters.  If the water is over the road, you can not tell how deep that water is or the condition of the road beneath.
