Big Inning Helps Hornets Win

The Chillicothe Hornets Baseball team opened the Marshall Tournament with a 10-4 win over Salem.
The Hornets scored two in the second, one in the third, and two in the fourth for a 5-0 lead. After a scoreless fifth inning, Salem made things interesting with a four-run top of the sixth inning to close the game to a one-run margin.
Chillicothe battled back with a five-run bottom of the sixth, and sealed the win in the top of the seventh 10 to 4, scoring ten runs off seven hits with two errors.
Salem had four runs off two hits with four errors.
Chillicothe used five pitchers in the game. Gage Leamer had the start and went five innings. Justin Pyle, Landon Swift, Griff Bonderer, and Wyatt Brandsgaard finished the game. The five pitchers combined to allow four runs off two hits with seven strikeouts and nine walks.
Mason Baxter went two for three at the plate with a double and single. Tucker Wagers had a double with singles from Griff Bonderer, Gage Leamer, Brock Ward, and Landon Winder. Chillicothe plays Clinton at 11:30 and Marshall at 4:30 today in Marshall.
