Carrollton & Meadville Residents Injured In Accidents

An accident in Benton County left a Carrollton man with serious injuries and a child with minor injuries Wednesday afternoon.  State Troopers report 57-year-old Robert McDowell of Carrollton was taken to University Hospital in Columbia following the accident at about 2:00 pm on US 65.  According to the report, McDowell was southbound when he ran off the road and up an embankment.  His vehicle became airborne, overturned, and struck a guardrail, coming to rest on its top.  A 6-year-old boy in the vehicle was taken to Bothwell Hospital for treatment.  The child was wearing a safety belt, the man was not.

At about 6:30 am in Linn County, a Meadville woman had moderate injuries in a single-vehicle rollover accident.  State Troopers report 40-year-old Angela Wiles of Meadville was taken to Hedrick Medical Center following the accident on Route B, Northwest of Meadville.  According to the report, Wiles was eastbound and swerved to miss a deer, ran off the road, and overcorrected.  She crossed the road and her car overturned, coming to rest on its top.  She was wearing a safety belt.
