Highway Patrol Accident and Arrest Report

Two single-vehicle accidents Monday in the area counties left three injured, including a child.

At about 4:30 pm in Linn County, 35-year-old John Thompson of Brookfield was injured when he ran off the road and struck the ditch, while westbound on US 36, east of Brookfield.  Thompson was taken to Pershing Memorial Hospital in Brookfield for treatment of moderate injuries.  He was not wearing a safety belt.

Thompson was also arrested by State Troopers on alleged five counts of failure to register as a sex offender and for no seatbelt.  After treatment, he was taken to the Macon County Jail with no bond allowed.

 

At about 11 pm in Caldwell County, 35-year-old Juan Jones of Eldorado Springs, MO was eastbound on US 36, east of Cameron, when he ran into the median and his Peterbuilt truck overturned.  State Troopers report Jones and a 9-year-old girl in the truck had moderate injuries and were taken to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph for treatment.  Jones was wearing a safety belt; the girl was not.
