Thrilling Win for CHS Soccer

It took double overtime, but the Chillicothe Girls Soccer team beat Kirksville for a second time this season. Chillicothe edged Kirksville 2-1 in double overtime on the road.
Kirksville scored in the 39th minute for a 1-0 lead that held until late in the second quarter.
Chillicothe pulled Allie Italiano out of the net late in regulation and it paid dividends. Italiano scored in the 79th minute off a Lucy Reeter assist to tie the score .
After a scoreless first overtime, Juliann Gabrielson netted the game winner off a Julia Stimpson assist in the 95th minute.
Coach Jimmy Chapman said in addition to the goal, Italiano had 11 saves in the game.
Chapman said his team’s defense of Ellie Barnett, Sophia Luetticke, Hannah Dominique, Skyler Powers, Chloe Funk and Jaycie Stimpson “had a very good game limiting Kirksville’s opportunities”.
The JV won 4-0 with goals from Avery Baxter, Hailee Williams and two from Alice Hurtgen. Ericka Kroll had five saves.
