Vaccinations – More Shots and Shot Records

As children reach certain milestones, especially starting school, parents are asked to supply shot or vaccination records.  Registered Nurse at the Livingston County Health Center, Mary Taylor says they have access to those records.

Taylor says because many of the physicians and clinics use the reporting system they can access the information.

The final set of vaccinations for the school-age children is during High School.  Taylor says this round can be given starting at 16.

She says meningitis can be passed by shared contact with items, including cups or eating utensils, lip gloss or similar items and even drink bottles.  As the children become young adults and are exposed to a broader group of people, the risks become greater and so does the need for a strong immune system.
