Serious Injury Accident Turns To Fatality

One of two people that had serious injuries in an accident Sunday night near Avalon has died.  Officials report 75-year-old Charles Plummer of Hale died of injuries suffered in the accident at about 9:50 pm Sunday.  The crash on Route JJ, North of Avalon, resulted in serious injuries for Plummer and 63-year-old Susan Bachman of Chillicothe.  According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Route JJ, when 33-year-old Steven Wilson of Chillicothe was northbound in a pick-up, Plummer was northbound in a UTV and stopped while Bachman was using a leaf blower to blow grass off the roadway.  Wilson struck the back of the UTV, which struck Bachman.

Bachman and Plummer were taken to Hedrick Medical Center.  Bachman was later flown to St. Luke’s on the Plaza.  Plummer was flown to Liberty Hospital where he later passed away.

Troopers arrested Wilson for alleged DWI – resulting in serious injuries and for alleged Careless and imprudent driving involving an accident.  He was not injured in the accident and was taken to the Daviess Dekalb Regional Jail.
