Two With Serious Injuries In Accident Sunday Near Avalon

An accident Sunday night near Avalon left two with serious injuries and one person in custody.  State Troopers received the call about 9:50 pm for the crash on Route JJ, North of Avalon, that resulted in serious injuries for 63-year-old Susan Bachman of Chillicothe and 75-year-old Charles Plummer of Hale.  According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Route JJ, when 33-year-old Steven Wilson of Chillicothe was northbound in a pick-up, Plummer was northbound in a UTV and stopped while Bachman was using a leaf blower to blow grass off the roadway.  Wilson struck the back of the UTV, which struck Bachman.

Bachman and Plummer were taken to Hedrick Medical Center.  Bachman was later flown to St. Luke’s on the Plaza, while Plummer was flown to Liberty Hospital.

Troopers arrested Wilson for alleged DWI – resulting in serious injuries and for alleged Careless and imprudent driving involving an accident.  He was not injured in the accident and was taken to the Daviess Dekalb Regional Jail.
