Sheriff’s Office Receives Breath Testing Equipment

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office has been awarded 6 Preliminary Breath Testing (PBT) instruments.  Sheriff Steve Cox says the new equipment is from a grant application to the Missouri Department of Transportation Highway Safety and Traffic Division.

Cox says the Preliminary Breath Testing instruments are assigned to road patrol deputy sheriffs to assist with DWI investigations and can be a vital tool with enforcement.

The department also normally receives several thousand dollars in grant money each year which can only be used for deputy sheriff overtime to work assigned traffic safety projects.

The grant for the Preliminary Breath Testing equipment and overtime was written by Chief Deputy Michael Claypole.
