The Chillicothe Police Department is working with city hall on developing a Police Officer Recruitment program. Chief Jon Maples asked the City Council to consider a program that would reimburse new and current officers, up to $4000 of the cost of attending the Police Academy.
City Administrator Darin Chappell says they are also trying to keep a well-trained department.
Chappell says the reimbursement plan is a starting point.
The City Attorney will bring more information to the council at their next meeting.
