A grass fire reported on Route A Friday afternoon summoned Chillicothe Fire Department.  The call came in at about 4:45 and the fire crew arrived in less than 15 minutes to find about 1 acre of grass burning.  The department used their side by side and 60 gallons of water to put out the fire.

The fire is believed to have started by someone burning boxes next to a rubbish pile.  The fire extended to the rubbish and then into the grass near the pile.

No one was around while the fire crew was on the scene.  They were on scene for just over 30 minutes.
