Chillicothe R-II School Board – Bid, Meals, and More

The Chillicothe R-II School Board took action on several items at Tuesday’s meeting.

Bids Approved

The Chillicothe R-II School Board accepted bids for Fuel and Milk as part of Tuesday’s meeting.  Superintendent Dan Wiebers says three bids were presented.

Assistant Superintendent Dr. Zach McMains presented the bids.  They include, one bid for bread Bimbo Bakeries, one bid for fuel from MFA Oil Co, and one bid for milk.  The MFA bid includes a 5 cent discount off the pump and no federal fuel tax. The one bid for dairy was from Prairie Farms for .2475 per carton for white milk and .2510 for chocolate.

The Dairy and Fuel bids included an increase from last year.

Tax Rate Hearing

The date of the Chillicothe R-II School District Tax Rate Hearing is August 17th.  The public hearing will be at 5:45 pm, just prior to the school board meeting.  Action on the rate will be taken during the regular meeting.

Surplus Property

The Chillicothe R-II School Board approved a list of surplus items from the Litton Ag Center.  The items include:

Challenger MT445 tractor with loader

JD 970 tractor with loader

Dixie Chopper lawnmower 60″ deck

Gizmow lawnmower

2 truck-mounted snowblades.

These items will be posted on Sewell’s Online Auction service and will be sold to the highest bid. Proceeds from the sale of this property will be deposited in Fund 4 (Captial Projects).

School Meals

Meal prices for the 2021/22 school year were set by the School Board Tuesday.  Superintendent Dan Wiebers says there is no change from last year in the prices.

If a student chooses a second meal, they would need to to pay for that.  The prices approved include:

Student Lunch

Reduced: All $.40

Full Pay K-5: $2.10

Full Pay 6-12: $2.35

Student Breakfast

Reduced: All $.30

Full Pay K-5: $1.15

Full Pay 6-12: $1.40

Adult Lunch & Breakfast

Breakfast: $1.90

Lunch: $2.90
