The official ribbon-cutting for the Lillian DesMarias Youth Library was Friday evening and included several representatives from the design and construction. Among them were three directors from the library. State Librarian Robin Westphal was the Library Director in Chillicothe when this project began. She talked about how this came about.
Westphal worked with the board and helped to secure the purchase of the building, but then moved on to a new position.
Candy Warren was the Youth Librarian when the process started and when Robin left, she became the Library Director. Warren talked about the process of design through construction.
Jodi Moore is the Youth Librarian, she talked about when the new building opened.
The staff provided tours of the new building to those that had not seen the inside.
