Chillicothe’s Nuisance Process
Since October of 2020, the City of Chillicothe has received and processed 220 complaints of nuisance properties in the city limits. These range from complaints of grass length to abandon vehicles to unsafe structures. City Administrator Darin Chappell says the process to handle these issues can be lengthy.
Chappell says the process has three possible outcomes.
Of the more than 220 complaints received, 138 have been resolve to bring the property in compliance;70 remain in non-compliance and the city is still working with the property owners to resolve the issues; the remaining 22 have been moved to the courts to be decided by a judge.
