Arrests Made in Brookfield Vandelism

On Wednesday the Brookfield Police Department and the Linn County Sheriff’s Department conducted a joint investigation into multiple acts of vandalism and property damage within the City of Brookfield and Linn County. The suspects spray-painted racial, vulgar statements and pictures at multiple points within the city limits and in the county. A Linn County Sheriff’s Department patrol vehicle was targeted in the vandalism.
The investigation was led by the Detectives of the Brookfield Police Department and the Linn County Sheriff’s Department. The Linn County Detective was able to obtain video footage and identify a suspect purchasing multiple spray paint cans that matched the colors used in the acts of vandalism.
The suspects have been identified and as a result, three adults have been arrested and charged with, Property Damage Motivated by Discrimination Class D Felony, Property Damage 1st Degree on LEO Class D Felony, 2 counts of Property Damage 1st Degree Class E Felony, 3 counts of Harassment 2nd Degree Class A Misdemeanor. One of the adults has an additional count of Unlawful Use of a Weapon a Class B Felony.
Two juveniles have been referred to the 9th Circuit Juvenile Office.
The Brookfield Police Department thanks the City of Brookfield Building and Grounds crew for the quick removal of all the graffiti.
The Brookfield Police Department and the Linn County Sheriff’s Department made arrests based on facts obtained during the investigation and would like to remind everyone that all persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
