Council Approves Land Exchange Or Industrial Development

An exchange of land for future industrial use was approved by the Chillicothe City Council in a closed executive session Thursday.  City Administrator Darin Chappell says the agreement with Jerry L & Rita D Nibarger includes the city receiving 130 acres of land, east of Chillicothe, South of Route V and north of the railroad.

In exchange, Nibarger receives the land purchased by the City several years ago for Industrial Development.  That land is 170 acres located south of US 36 near the railroad.  The city also pays Nibarger $100,000.

Chappell says the parcel of land the city receives is much more suitable for industrial development in the future, with better access to utilities and transportation.
