Sexual Misconduct and Child Abuse/Neglect In Chillicothe Police Report

Investigations of possible child abuse or neglect and a report of sexual misconduct are in the Chillicothe Police Department reports for Tuesday and Wednesday.  The report includes more than 260 calls for service.

Tuesday:

06:17 AM Officers responded to Walnut and Webster for a two-vehicle crash without injuries.

09:35 AM Officers responded to the area of St. Louis and Jackson for a very young unattended juvenile near the roadway. This lead officers into an investigation of possible child abuse. Investigation continues.

12:26 PM Two vehicles crash at the intersection of Bus. 36 and Washington street. Both vehicles were towed and one occupant was transported by EMS for injuries.

02:15 PM, Officers were proactively patrolling and located a vehicle from to the call on September 3rd, where a person in a drive-through allegedly exposed themselves (committing 1st Degree Sexual Misconduct).  Officer contacted the man in the 1000 block of Graves Street and continued the investigation locating several items of evidence that led to the arrest of a 37-year-old man for sexual misconduct.  His electronic devices were seized and they show evidence which concerned officers to investigate further into child victim crimes.  Reports were sent to the Livingston County Prosecutor for consideration of charges.  He was transported to the Daviess/DeKalb Regional Jail pending the filing of formal charges.

05:50 PM Officers took a report of a dog bite in the 1200 block of Broadway. Owners of the animal in question for issued several citations.

06:08 PM Officers took a report of a runaway juvenile from the Ridgecrest area. The juvenile was quickly located by officers and returned home.

Wednesday:

8:46 am, Officer out in the 400 block of Locust Street on a report of a building possibly broken into.  Investigation is continuing.

10:06 am, Officers assisted Probation/Parole Officer in the 1200 block of Green Street.   The 34-year-old was found to have several prohibited items in their possession.  Items were confiscated and the person is to be charged with the violations while under state supervision.  They were taken to the Daviess/DeKalb County Regional Jail.

10:44 am, Officers reported to business in the 1200 block of N. Washington Street on a report of shoplifting.  The person left the business and began consuming the stolen item.  Officers located the person east of the store, still in possession of the stolen item.  They were arrested and taken to the Daviess Dekalb Regional Jail.

11:46 am, a 28-year-old surrendered themselves on a Linn County warrant.  They posted bond and were released.

4:33 pm, Officers assisted Emergency Services with a vehicle fire in the 400 block of Grandview Avenue.  The vehicle was a total loss and was towed from the scene.
