Bench Trial Ends With “Guilty” Verdict

A Milan man was found guilty on one of two charges in a bench trial in Linn County.  Fifty-year-old Roger H Cassity appeared before Judge Terry Tschannen for the bench trial.  Cassity had waived the right of a Jury Trial.  The state and the defense presented the cases on the charges of possession of a controlled substance and sex offender physically present within 500 feet of a park with playground equipment.

The court found Cassity guilty on the possession charge and he was acquitted on the other.

Sentencing will be held on December 7th.
