Three Police Vehicles Purchased – Delivery Expected Near End Of The Year

The Chillicothe Police Department has three vehicles that are in need of replacement.  Two are having serious transmission problems and a third has other problems.  The City received bids from Chillicothe Ford for three vehicles that would cost $146301 and a trade-in of $18,000;  Dana Safety Supply has a bid of $145572 plus delivery from Arkansas, with no trade-in.

Chillicothe Ford would have the vehicles in 4 months to a year, while Dana Safety Supply would deliver the vehicles in 6-8 weeks.

Chillicothe Police Chief Jon Maples was asked about a recommendation.

The consensus of the council was they would prefer to buy local, but Dana Safety Supply has the vehicle now and can deliver quickly.  The council accepted the bid from Dana Safety Supply on a vote of 5/0.
