Accidental Shooting, Accidents, And Unattended Child In Police report

The Chillicothe Police Department responded to 90 calls for service Thursday, including an accidental shooting, a stolen vehicle, and a couple of accidents.

10:31 am, Officers responded to a report of a vehicle striking a building at Park Center Shopping Center.  The report states the driver was attempting to park, when their foot slipped off the brake and hit the accelerator, causing the vehicle to jump the curb and collide with a pillar.  The driver complained of minor injury but refused to be transported by ambulance.

11:31 am, A report of an unattended child summoned officers to the 10 block of Clay St.  Officers located the child and with assistance from the neighbors were able to locate the child’s home.  Officers contacted the parents who stated the child had let themselves out of the house while they were doing household chores.  A report will be forwarded to the Children’s Division.

4:17 pm, Officers were called to the 800 block of Cherry Street on a report of a stolen vehicle.   Officers located the vehicle and made contact with the suspect and were given information advising the vehicle was reported stolen due to not being returned to the rental company on time.   The vehicle was processed and towed.

5:11 pm, An accidental discharge of a firearm resulting in an injury summoned Chillicothe Police to the 300 block of Calhoun.   Officers arrived and cleared the scene for Emergency Services to transport the victim to the Hospital.  The officers gathered needed information for the investigation.  A 28 year-old suspect was arrested and taken to the Daviess/DeKalb County Regional Jail pending charges.

5:25 pm, Officer responded to Polk and Broadway Street for a 3 vehicle crash.  The report states two vehicles entered the intersection at approximately the same time and colliding causing one of the vehicles to then strike a third vehicle that was stationary at a stop sign.  No injuries were reported.
