Tik-Tok / Schools / Police / Video

The Chillicothe Police Department received information from the Chillicothe R-II School Resource Officers about a nationwide TikTok challenge being made. The challenge is to make threats to harm students at school.

Chillicothe Police Chief Jon Maples says his department is working closely with the schools and have School Resource Officers in place for this very reason. He says the department and school district have plans in place and proactive patrol officers.

Maples says “Let me assure you that if you make a threat to harm a student in Chillicothe, you will be caught and you will be arrested.”   He went on to say “This is not funny nor a game. It is a felony to make a terroristic threat and we take our kiddos safety very serious here.”

If you have any information of an individual speaking of causing harm or participating in this challenge, notify the Police immediately.

A local video was posted and the school and police were made aware of the video.  While the video had no credible threat, it was taken seriously.  Chillicothe R-II Superintendent Dr Dan Wibers did make a statement about the TickTok Challenge and the local response.

The schools and local authorities are handling the situation.
